We are currently looking for Chefs, to work on board our trains, for our trains between Vancouver and Toronto. Your home-base will be Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Your main responsibility will be to plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities. You will prepare and cook meals and specialty foods including dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. You will ensure quality of food and portion control. You will also manage the requisition of food, kitchen supplies and equipment. You will supervise cooks and kitchen staff, if required.
These positions are seasonal, with lay-offs at the end of October.
If you are selected for this position, you will need to succeed a two week's full time training. You will compensate for the training ($10.00 per hour). This training session has to be successfully completed before obtaining a position as a Chef.
Salary: 22.83 $ / hourly
Training starts : approximately end of April
| Requirements:
You hold a current sanitation or food safe certificate and a Red Seal Certification and have three years of experience in line cooking, with at least one as a chef. You must be comfortable working in a hot and small kitchen, cleaning your own dishes and working very long days (Up to 60 hours in 4 days). You have to be comfortable with being away for extended period (approx. 5 days), including working week-ends and holidays.
