• Engineering subject matter expert in the initial planning stages of capital and maintenance projects
• Select and manage approved consultants to perform Engineering services on the Prairie Region
• Ensure an effective management and direction of construction projects initiated by external and internal customers
• Handle the selection, award and management of contracts to external contractors and consultants to fulfil project objectives
• Ensure accurate costing and technical information is provided by the consultants in the preparation of project budgets and AFE's
• Manage the railway portion of work performed for municipal, provincial or federal projects, including coordinating the work and project budgets of other Engineering groups
• Represent and protect the interest of CN in external negotiation with federal, provincial, and municipal organizations in implementing both CN projects and progress as well as in dealing with regulatory issues

Requirements:

1. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, oral and written communication
2. Ability to work under pressure
3. Competent with personal computers and mainframe applications
4. Extensive travel 
5. Considerable field work - need to be able to walk on uneven ground for extended periods of time.
6. 24/7 operation
7. Ability to work with minimal direction and as a proactive team member
